House Reconciliation Bill Would Weaken 皇冠体育app官网平台n Manufacturing, Clean Energy Investments

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — If passed by the full House, the proposed reconciliation package, as adopted by the Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means Committees, would revoke popular and successful investments in domestic manufacturing and clean energy, erasing job opportunities, tens of billions of dollars in economic investments, and essential emissions reductions in communities across the country – all while raising homeowners’ and small business owners’ electric bills.

“This budget bill, if passed in its current form, is a losing proposition for 皇冠体育app官网平台. It will weaken 皇冠体育app官网平台n manufacturing and end clean energy investments and jobs that have already brought economic growth across the country,” said Shannon Heyck-Williams, associated vice president for climate and energy at the National Wildlife Federation. “At a time when energy demand and prices are both soaring, lawmakers should double down on investments in affordable, clean energy production and domestic manufacturing – not erase them. House lawmakers must reject the current draft and preserve the recent momentum to build clean energy sources that boost 皇冠体育app官网平台n competitiveness.”

While functionally eliminating nearly all clean energy credits, the bill also extends incentives for alternative fuels production that could lead to serious environmental and climate impacts. Lawmakers also inserted a change to make it easier for fuel production that results in loss of habitat from indirect land use change.

“Assessing land use change is critical for accurately understanding the full impact of biofuel production,” said Heyck-Williams. “If not fixed, this $46 billion extension will undermine any alleged benefit of these fuels.”
