WASHINGTON, D.C. — Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins should prioritize and sustain the federal government’s long-standing and essential investments in voluntary conservation programs and partnerships with farmers, ranchers, foresters, and private landowners.
“Secretary Brooke Rollins’ arrival at the U.S. Department of Agriculture comes at a pivotal moment when farmers and ranchers are seeking the support and certainty they need to strengthen their operations and support soil health, clean air and water, and thriving wildlife,” said Aviva Glaser, senior director of agriculture policy at the National Wildlife Federation. “Secretary Rollins should start her tenure by heeding the calls of farmers and working to unfreeze congressionally directed funding for rural communities. We look forward to working with the newly confirmed secretary on this and on partnering with Congress to pass and implement a bipartisan Farm Bill that meets the growing needs of farmers and ranchers for conservation funding.”
