Bipartisan Vote Affirms Opportunities for Collaboration with Wright on Energy Solutions, Grid Improvements

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s bipartisan vote to support Chris Wright as the next leader of the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Wildlife Federation pledged to work with him on embracing sustainable energy solutions, improve grid resilience and reliability, and addressing the challenges facing wildlife and people.

“Secretary of Energy nominee Chris Wright’s expertise and experience working across the full spectrum of energy sources is clear. We appreciate his commitments to improve transmission, embrace the full range of cleaner sources of energy, and pursue innovative technologies to responsibly power the nation,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. “We agree on the need to build great ʹappƽ̨n energy solutions and believe we can responsibly secure reliable, abundant, clean and low-cost energy solutions to meet surging energy demands, while reducing emissions at home and abroad.  We also firmly believe that responsible siting, carbon abatement and pollution control technologies, and meaningful community engagement are absolutely necessary to ensure that the administration’s energy dominance strategy does not exacerbate the loss of wildlife habitat, accelerate climate change, or further harm frontline communities. We stand ready to work with the Department of Energy under nominee Wright’s leadership on addressing the immense and interconnected challenges facing wildlife and people.”
